For my sixteenth birthday, four years ago, my mom took me to Paris. Ever since then, Paris captured my heart. The lively cafés, the opulent architecture, the magnificent museum collections, the dreamy boutiques… As you walk along the tree-lined boulevards, the smell of freshly baked croissants lingers in the air. Immersed in this magical Parisian atmosphere, you can’t help but feel as though you are dreaming. It is especially enchanting when you catch a glimpse of the Eiffel tower through some tree branches, or walk across the dreamy Pont Alexandre III, making your way across The Seine. Did you know that every evening, for the first five minutes of every hour, the Eiffel Tower sparkles with golden lights, showering the city in a magical glow? It’s one of the most beautiful sights i’ve ever seen.
I love to keep decorations, bright flowers, and pretty lights around my house to remind me of the beautiful time I spent in Paris. I love watching films that take place in Paris, and one of my all-time favourites is Midnight In Paris. This movie is a must for all of the francophiles out there. I also enjoy listening to the beautiful music of the accordion, or Edith Piaf, which help me evoke more memories of Paris. (Yes, in Paris they really do have accordion players in some cafés, and occasionally even on the subway!)
One wall of my living room is dedicated to some of my favourite impressionist artists. I framed eight impressionist paintings, and hung them on my living room wall to make my own rendition of the Musée d’Orsay, one of my favourite museums in the world. This is my way of keeping Paris close to me, and reminding me that I will soon return to the beautiful land of my favourite artists: Monet, Manet, Renoir, and Rodin.
I hope you enjoyed seeing the little things that remind me of my favourite city. Do you have a favourite city?
All the best,
– Ema

[…] Here is another one of my favourite paintings. This is one of the four beautiful waterlily paintings that Monet sold during his lifetime. As you can see from the smile on my face, I was quite happy to see this painting. This is one of the many impressionist paintings that I wish I had on my wall. (See more about my wall of impressionist art here). […]
