Metropolitan Museum of Art: Fashion Exhibition

Back in May, The Metropolitan Museum of Art hosted its annual Met Gala. The Met Gala celebrated the grand opening of the Metropolitan Museum’s new exhibition: Manus X Macchina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. It displays over 100 haute couture pieces from various designers and various seasons. The exhibition explores the distinction between handmade and machine-made couture, exemplifying how machine-made couture can be just as detailed, exquisite, and creative as handmade couture.

Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Christian Dior, and Alexander McQueen are a few of the designers that are featured at the Met. Every single one of the pieces that were selected for this exhibition are so stunning and unique. I am so happy and grateful that I had the chance to see these creations in person, and experience them myself. I spent so much time admiring all of the beautiful pieces on display, reading about them, and taking it all in. It was such an engaging and pleasant experience that I didn’t want to leave.

If you are in New York City this summer, I would highly recommend paying a visit to the Metropolitan Museum, and viewing this exhibition. You definitely won’t regret it. It is on until September 5th, 2016, so if you have the chance to see it, it is a must! Below are some photos that I took while going through the gallery. These dresses stood out to me because of their dazzling details and unique beauty. I hope that by looking through these photos of the dresses and their details, you can get an idea of what it is like to be there and see these pieces up close. Overall, Manus X Macchina: Fashion in an Age of Technology was an amazing exhibition. It left me feeling wonderful and also inspired me to create pieces of my own. If I travel to New York City again in the future, I will definitely revisit The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Have you had a chance to visit this exhibition? Would you like to? Please let me know in the comments below.

All the best,
